Grounding refers to the process of connecting an electrical system’s conductive parts to the earth, allowing fault current to flow safely into the ground rather than through a person or device.

While most people associate grounding with home electrical systems, portable power stations with 110V or 220V AC outputs also require proper grounding—especially when powering RVs, which act as large conductive structures.

Common Misconceptions Among RV Users

“It’s just DC output—I don’t need grounding.”	Most portable stations offer AC output, so grounding is still critical.
“My RV has its own grounding—problem solved.”	If the portable power station is the power source, it must also be properly grounded.
“It works fine without grounding—why bother?”	Without grounding, RCD (leakage protection) won’t activate during faults, posing serious danger.
